store bought snood/trot line

Iam still building this trot line w/snoods all to mr. polecats spec,s. i must say the beeeer part slows you down but helps frame of mind till knots start getting aodd shaps[grin] i just wanted to know if anyone ever saw this rig all made up ready to crab for sale? labor cost would be huge.aside from materal time consuming. if my line ever gets hung up ,look out ,causei am pulling till the bottom comes up or i start down[tongue] oh ya.anybody know where to get 10 gal. rubbermaid trash can for line. i am in DE. been calling all over. maybe a chain store? walmart and ace hardware were strike outs. thanks [tongue]

building a snood line sucks No doubt about it.

As far as a container....A horse bucket works well. Should be able to pick them up at any feed store. Drill a couple of holes in the bottom to allow for drainage when you put a wet trotline in it.

B dog, I use #2610 Brute 10gallon trashcans made by rubbermaid. I couldn't find em' in the stores anywhere so I did a search online and got em' that way. They were about $11 a piece plus lids. They are great. I've used other containers before but this is the best so far. 1200' of snoodline fits perfectly in the 10gal container....put the top on it and you are good to go.

Building a snood line is a very time consuming task that should be done during winter months when it's too nasty to do anything else. I do mine then a little at a time and it seems to go much faster than winter passes. This winter I may build two new ones to replace two I now use that do not have the new improved snood. Depends on how energetic I am this coming winter.[grin]

ya got that right butthead! a person could get real attached to their line. ihave had wife checking on what i was up to ?[grin] thanks antman thats just what i will do to get that can. oh and polecat i am to exited to try this line to wait. been doing it at night while sitting front of tvand at family gatherings. you gone to love this,family expert asks what i am making,i say a line to catch crabs,he looks right close and works the snubbers .than loadly states it wont work cause loops/snubbers to tight and will not close around crab fast enough [tongue][tongue] i has to be nice and say ( is that right ?thanks ) i'll be dog gone ![grin]

There was one website that had trotlines made up completly. I think theywere around $150-$175. But I cannot remember the name of the site. I`ll do a search and see if it comes up. It may not be online anymore due to not enough sales.

The parts alone cost more than what you quoted if it's a complete trot line (including snoods attached).

Thats a fact. I know it cost me 120 just for rope, rubber and bungee. and thats 1200. I have 6 or 7 of them in the shed made 2 new this year and if they make them for 175 and it is 1/4 med lay they got themselves a deal because the time it takes to make them is worth far more than the 50.00 I would not have to put out.

Jerry, I have not found the site yet. But I do remember that the trotlines they were selling did not have snood lines with it. I`ll keep searching.
