    Default Pax on the 4th

Have been crabbing in the Pax for the last few days & been doing well. Yesterday I hit the Pax again with 3600 ft trotline, 2-8 ft water, I had been doing well in the shallow water in the last few days , sometimes it was so shallow my engine was hitting bottom. yesterday things had changed and the shallow water was not producing as well so moved my lines to 5-8 ft and did better.
Crabbed from just before daylight to 10 am , ended up with 6 bu.
    3 bu #1's , 1 bu Female 1 bu #2, & 1 bu whites,,
Most of the crabbers that I saw yesterday were commercial. I was surprized by the absence of recreational crabbers. the few recreational trotliners & trappers that I saw & talked to were off the water early, with good catches.

An interesting note about the shallow water trotlining.
I went to talk to annother trotliner that was working the shallow water near me, he was having better sucess in his location in the shallows than I was having. as i left him I idled away in the shallows and when I made it to the deeper water, I hit the gas and the motor died??? HMM,,restarted the motor and it died again when I put it in gear! hhhmmm!! I hope I didn't do what I THINK i did!!..I raised my motor and there was his trotline wrapped around my prop..Uh OH,,what a mess,I 'm sure to catch hell now!, I had wrapped it up real good and also cut it in half with both halves around my prop!! fortunatly he was somewhat understanding and after unwrapping the mess and an apology and a few $$ for his gear. we parted on a freindly note.
I have had many occasions to unwrap my own trotline off my prop.
but this is the first time I had caught anyone elses gear.

There is still some goob crabbing in the Pax!

    Rich,

Excellent day, Good job. Sorry about the line however sometimes S--- happens. You took care of the guy. I had 2 trap lines cut by other people and they never said a word and then denied it when I question them. Oh well

    Continued success.

I'm glad to hear you're still getting 'em Rj! My youngest brother, his girlfriend and a friend were down there yesterday and they thought they saw you, but they weren't sure. They were in a 17 ft. Bass tracker. They were working shallow with 30 traps and had their bushels not long after 9. They brought home some really nice crabs and it was nice for a change to sleep in and just show up when they were coming out of the steamer! [tongue]

    RJ,
Glad your trip was productive and that the mishap ended up without altercation.
An aquaintance of mine that was crabbing the Miles with me had a altercation last weekend. The guy got real sh^^ty because he thought my guy laid his tpx too close. 100 ft away is right. Some folks want the whole water. Oh well.

I once drug another commerical crabbers line about 50 yards.
To say he was pissed is an understatement Its funny now but
    it wasn't then[smile]
As you are aware the more time you spend on the water the strangest things will happen.
I use to have to go swimming on the average of 2 times a year
One time I left the knife at home !!!

Ohh man! If I did something like that, I`d probably would never go back to that spot again. I`d be motoring back to the dock with my tail between my legs and face so red you`d think I got sunburned.[grin]

Sounds like a typical day for me except its usually my own line that I snag.

We have to stop crabbing the same waters, some of my antics are rubbing off on you!
    [grin]
