I found where to get the clams, now trying to dtermine what size mesh to use. Anyone have any hints?? I did online a mesh that has 1/4 by 1/4" holes pretty cheap.

I have to call BS on the razor clams on a trotline. The mechanics of it don't add up to me...even if you put them in a bag. However...I hope someone goes out and proves me wrong.

I think the Eastern Shore waterman are having fun with the recs on this one. I have called at least 5 full time waterman that I know, and 4 of them run trotlines....not one of them has heard of this and they all laughed their a$$es off when I told them.

....I imagine it would probably attract them, but I'm not sure it would keep them on the line. If they can not get to the bait to eat, they'll move on.....but like Butthead, I'm curious to see how others do with it. Lately, I can not get a crab to hold onto anything but chicken....they don't like lips or eels where I crab.
    Good Luck!

A couple years ago I tried using plastic mesh to hold baby pogies in my traps. I tried several different types of mesh that I kept from things like Onion bags, toys, etc. Same result with all of them, the crabs tore them to shreds and stole all the bait within a very short amount of time.

Whatever you use make sure you test it on a couple snoods before you waste too much time and effort...

I ordered a heavy duty mesh, which should be here tomorrow. The more I think about it, the more I think it may not work. Crabs need meat to stick around, not sure if the mesh will allow the crabs to satisfy there appitite. I guess we will see. I plan on dropping 15 with necks and 15 with clam and see what does best.

I'm with you on this one....this is like the opposite of giving "jewels to a child".....with the concept being he doesn't know what he has...
This is like giving a turd to a retard [grin] and then tell him to put it in a bag and go catch some fish[smile]
