    Speculators are of the market and a critical piece of it (although regs on speculating probably ought to be tightened). But if speculators had that kind of power, you wouldn't see petrol at its current price.

    The fact that America's infrastructure is crumbling and needs funding is a good reason to raise the tax now that energy prices are low.

    The interstate highway system which was widely expanded in the 50's-70's is in bad shape. Bridges are a huge issue and very costly. It is all catching up...
    I would have no problem with an additional tax for those purposes however the crooks (and I mean every one of them) will make sure that money never see the light of day.
