I know there was a thread on Boat Insurance earlier,BUT I was reading my Policy tonight and found the following:...
"We will NOT pay for a loss to the insured yacht that arises out of:#3]..the insured yacht OR transporting trailer is wider than 8 feet 6 inches."
So Fellas, you might want to read the fine print in your policies IF you have a Boat over 8-6 that you tow!!I have been eyeing up some 9 ft.wide Boats, maybe I will not buy one now.
It's a catch 22 situation,If you have a 9 ft. beam and tow without permits and you have an accident[your fault or not]the insurance co. will not cover you.NOW,if you tell your insurance co. that the boat is 9 ft. wide,Do they ask for copies of Overwide Towing permits???
If anyone can help on this,I'd like to know what insurance co. you use as to keep my options open. Thanks![Mike]

with a permit you should be able to get an endorsement to your policy. Ask your insurance co.
