was just over that way this past weekend... where is it only 10 feet deep there? everything I have seen is 20-40 deep... were you north east of the channel (thimble shoal)?
It looked a little iffy this morning but since this was a day off and I might have to work tommorow, I said I'll go for it. Had some fresh dead hermits and some clams and headed out to fish the leeside of the 1st.. Fished from 9 to 1 pm in 11 to 15 ft of water. The togs are there. They sure prefered those hermits to the clam. A hermit got hit with 2 minutes putting over.I created a new reef out of sinkers losing plenty of rigs and missing many fish. Caught a few. Not sure if I was a little rusty on the hookset or the bouncing up down made it hard to set the hook or whether it was the new hooks I was trying out today. Anyway I should have waxed them but didn't. Kept one 17 inch fish for boys dinner. They love fresh fish.

how much lead was needed to hold bottom?
Awesome! Anything over 40° is good...
See you out there tomorrow. Bet I beat you to the ramp - unless you don't need a ramp!
"Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints..."
I just cleaned that fish for the dogs and it had absolutely NOTHING in its stomach. I was right up on the rocks on the east side of the island and 2 to 3 ozs held fine. Used 6 oz to get in some of the holes. It worked but also lost alot of lead.
I fished in that area this past Friday without much luck using clams and I only used 2 oz. of lead all day and held the bottom fine.
do you anchor up, or do you just drift?
You have got to anchor. It gets a little hairy 6 ft from the rocks, but today there wasn't any boat traffic, as a matter of fact I didn't see another boat except the pilot boat and a the coast guard.
Marty, you lucky dognice fish too!!! I was glad to see no flounder pics in your report
!
september is nearing[excited]
