    Default USCG saves Fishermen

This morning's Raleigh newspaper says the USCG has suspended the search for the third crewman.

The story goes on to say that Tracy Lynn was a 52' vessel.

No mention of whether she's a commercial vessel or a rec.

There's a fair amount of hook and line commercial bottom fishing south of Cape Fear. Hard to believe a rec would head out given the wx. Shoot, hard to figure anybody would head out in that, or with some potential for that to arrive!

    Whoops-
Just saw that Tracy Lynn was a CC with triples. Doesn't sound like a comm, does it?

    Default USCG saves Fishermen

I spoke with a Coast Guard rep. in Wilmington that said the investigation is still open. He said he was NOT to be quoted but did share the following:

    1) It was indeed a commercial vessel (HE THOUGHT)

    2) An EPIRB was not deployed. (had the fishermen not been spotted by the cargo vessel, they may have all been lost)

    3) No vessel has yet been found although there has been enough wreckage found to assume the vessel was destroyed.

Anyhow, the message is still the same; don't be out there when it's too rough. And oh yes, I'm sure glad I have an EPIRB on my boat.... hope I never need it.
