I would go 13 south to 64 west towards Chesapeake then 168 south through the toll and straight down I think thats the easiest. Good luck
Ok I have directions off map quest but I was wondering if there is an easier way to go. Could some one give me direction from rt 13. Thanks for the help.

Taz,
I know you are heading west on 64, but isn' it posted as East there because of the loop down from Richmond? That is the easiest way to go. There is a cut you can make to dodge the toll booth but it isn't really worth it unless you are towing.
on the map quest directions it says 64 East/ Hampton Roads Belt. Toward Chesapeake/ Suffolk.
Thanks for the help.
Yeah, that will confuse you if you aren't prepared for it. Take 64 east to head west. Back in 1989 when I reported to the Enterprise they didn't have a rack for me and told me to come back on Monday. So I headed home to western NC. Go west right? Well after two loops back to the Naval base by taking 64 West I figured it out. [grin]
yep my bad a#@ backwards....thanks
John, typical locals around Va Beach/ Norkolk area ( I'm just as bad around Richmond). Come across CBBT and follow signs to I64. Then head to Chesapeake/ Suffolk. Take exit for 168 S ( I think there is a sign for OBX). Watch speed on toll road. Follow signs to OBX. Go across Currituck sound bridge and keep getten it south. About 18 miles or so get in left lane and at a light there is a sign to Hatteras Island. Turn left at light, cross Oregon Inlet Bridge and keep getten it for 60 miles. End of Island is Hatteras Village. Turn left just past Teaches were the road divides for the ferry traffic--- don't wake me up!!!!

Exit on 64 for 168 is 291B
168 turns into 158 at some point here to the right is Elizabeth City - don't go right, it is the Dismal Swamp and it is really - dismal.
158 is a fun road - u'll pass such great towns as Moyock and CoinJock. Don't speed at night or have a headlight out - the cops are extremely bored and will even pull u over for a lane change without signalling even though there isn't another car in sight for 20 miles - don't axe me how i know......
Rd to turn left on to go to Hatt is 12 - it is at intersection of the end of 158, 64W and 12 S
Don't forget to stop at Hatteras Harbor marina and check out the Sushi
[wink]
