Left OIFC at 5:30 jumped in behind the Point Runner and followed him through the main channel, long boat ride. 8 miles before you get out! Once we got out, pointed the bow due south. Another long boat ride. Once we got probably 20 miles into the trip, the seas stacked up so we were running into head seas. Lots of air time launching the boat completely out of the water at times, Im sure it made for some pretty pictures for the Tuna Fever charter I kept seeing the flash of their cameras. Finally made it to the weedline around 45 miles or so south of OI. Put lines in and it didnt take long. Fish on the flat line, no, he dropped it, jig the short rigger, here he comes he eats it, bam hook up! Gaffer dolphin makin way to the boat, after loosing the only dolphin we hooked on the Thursday trip we werent taking any chances get him to the boat, pretty fish, I grabb the leader, Dad comes behind with the gaff, swing and a miss, fish goes crazy, hook comes out, DANG! Somethins goin on here. Put the spread back out and they started coming in, as fast as we could get the lines in the water, well, not quite that fast, but there wasnt much down time. We finally pulled our act together and started puttin them in the boat. Loosing maybe 2 more fish the rest of the day. We were threatened by a thunderstorm that stayed well east of us and had one rain shower. Fish seemed to be on the hot side of the weedline. Finished the day with 13 nice gaffers.

Once we got on the road home I was following the boat in my truck, and I noticed the engine bracket waskinda weird looking. When we got home I ran my hand across the bracket and it has a bend in it. Look at the boat, where the bracket joins the boat there is some separation happening. I dont know if when we came down off of one of the attempts to become an airplane we may have landed on it wrong and bent it up, or what? Paul at Bluewater said to email him pictures, and he will take care of it. Cant beat that for service.

Great fishing trip, lots of meat, great company, cant wait to go again![grin]

    Later.

Sounds like a nice trip Ben except for the "air time" which my old bones can do without. Congrats. I hope Paul comes through for you.

Nice job, I was wondering how ruff it was on Sun cuz the wind was supposed to have a "W" in it. Figured it was fishable but not comfortable. Hopefully that weed will gather its wits and reform making the fishing easier.
