    Default Hatteras Gaffers 5/29

Fished with Doug(Nauti' Boy), Rich, Keith and myself-Brian(Fishboy01) aboard the "Nauti' Boys".

Saturday made a slow rough trip to the 250 area and only stayed until 9:30 and headed for the barn. Weatherman had it all wrong, called for 2-4 and it was more like 5-7 and 20+SW.

So, back at the dock, we all decided to give the WX man one more chance on Sunday, and he had it wrong again, but this time much calmer!!!! thank you!!

Sunday headed for the 000's where the previous day had a good report. Well, the water pushed out and we he it the 70* mark aound 40 fthms. Trolled overboard and worked into 200 fthms and a little north. Picked up some nice fish as we worked out and found a real nice grass line w/ huge mats east of the Rockpile and steadily picked up gaffers all along the way. We stuck with blue/white and naked baits, did get one on a green/yelow jet. Beautiful day on the water with friends aboard the "Nauti Boys".[excited]

Doug, next time we'll leave those skinny ones alone and catch some fat round ones.

    Doug,

Glad you guys got into them on Sun., we fished in the same area 1st thing in the am and then couldn't find the weed line again around lunch bc it had moved.

The fishing Sat. was tough although we were in the bite all day so it made it somewhat tollerable but still wet as snot.

    Nice pics too !

    Russ,

It wasn't the best of days on sat to say the least, and getting wet wasn't so bad, but the "Maytag" action was making it tough. But hey, ya' have to give it a shot or you'll miss some nice days too when the WX man gets it wrong on the good side.
