What is that thing, 120 miles offshore?
From another site...I figured that big-a$$ eddy way up north had some fish in it...now if it would just spin it's way down here, we'd be able to stop complaining and go kill some fish (out of VA and MD).
It’s a little early in the season to start talking about tuna, but after posting this weeks report, I got a call and the
following e-mail from Bradley Wurst;
I just called you about trip to Hydrographer Canyon this weekend and as an avid reader to your column I wanted to
post you of our trip. There is a huge eddy sitting at Hydrographers with temp breaks from 50 to 70 degrees. We arrive
Sat AM and the YFT action was non stop until we left at 3:00 PM. All fish between 50 – 70 lbs on anything you
presented. We used spreader bars (rainbow color) and skirted Ballyhoos (blue/white & pink) and the fish crushed us.
We left with fish biting but our boxes were full. Also had 2 Mahi 10 lbs & 25 lbs. and I think there is other variety of
fish including White & Blue Marlin, Mako, etc. We didn’t see any but the water is blue and the temp breaks are
incredible

It's WAY out there...like 90+ miles from Nantucket I think [tongue][tongue]
Too far for the little boat!!
That's to far for a big boat!!! But it's like nervona, just the thought of blood on the deck and screaming reels and limits of any offshore species is enough to keep me going. Im so needy of gafing I might drive down to NC and charter. aleave my big bathtub at home to avoid all the hastle. anyway its nice to here there is somthing north of the mason-dixon line.
Wasn't there a quote that went like, " Nobody has ever gone that far for a fish."
Perfect Storm????
:)
"The Flemish Cap, oh you know why don't we steam to Portugal while we're at it."
Is that the quote your looking for?
No way... sounds like a fish tale to me. [tongue]
Don't think so Skippy...check out that eddy that just left that area...pretty nice! As we sit in the Ice box...
"We're Gloucesterman...let's go fishing"
That report is accurate.
Amazing that just a year ago we were getting ready for our 4th offshore trip of the season. Not to mention we were killing them in the washington. Oh well...it's still early. Not that I'll be out there in my boat this year anyway.
