Furuno 582 vs 582L

Looking for some input here. Is the 582L just the latest version of the 582 with an LCD diplay? Also looking for opinions on either unit. Good/bad. Thanks in advance. Paul

I didn't know they even made the CRT unit anymore. I personally love CRTs, in fact I had a Sitex 208 (600w unit like the 582) till something inside fried. Sitex said they could fix it but they mentioned that they no longer can get the CRT tube from Sony so they didn't recommend fixing it. Nice enough they gave me their LCD 832 at dealer cost. Regarding the CRT, I don't think the CRT version is totally waterproof like the LCD and it's a big as a house. Guess like everything in this world things move on. If you could find the CRT 582 for a good price, say $500 or less w/ducer then I'd look at it. There's also an issue w/sunlight and CRTs but that never bothered me.

Terp - As far as I know they don't make the CRT any longer. The situation is that I have a 582 that is for sale. The potential buyer was looking into getting a 582L when I mentioned the 582 to him. We were curious about the differences. Thanks for your reply. Paul
