Default Easter Shore Marlin Club Tourn. 7-23 and 24

I fished with my dad (woody fish) Fri and Sat in the tournament and it was a success!

Fri. Lines in at 0830 at the tip of the Wash. and we had a small dolphin around 0900 on a blue and white seawitch. Second fish was a small tuna on a naked ballyhoo around 1000 which broke off on the boat. At 1157 we had a small white on our teaser which was a spreader bar with a hookless greenmachine ballyhoo as the trailer. He was all over it and we were able to hook him up on a tld 25 with a naked ballyhoo. Three minutes later we had the leader and made a clean release at the boat! The fish was the first bill of the tourn. The rest of the day was slow.

Sat. Lines in at 0830 and in second place! We started in 30 fathoms because we got a late start. Imediatley we caught a nice gaffer and for the rest of the am it was non-stop. BY 1030 we had 3 yellofins, 3 dolphins and we realesed are second white marlin! He again was raised by the spreader bar and then switched to the other teaear which was also a green machine. I hooked him on a tld 30 and we realeased him in four minutes with some heavy backing of the capt. We caught one more yellow fin and one more dolphin. We also raise another white that we did not get.

Unofficially we are in second place for total billfish released and we also will get a trophy for the first release of the tourn. We will find out for sure at the banquet tonight.

All in all a great trip and a great crew1

Default Easter Shore Marlin Club Tourn. 7-23 and 24

Great Weekend and a good post. Others on the trip were Jim Casey, Jerry Hill and Robert Check. The mate was great and we landed 9 out of 10 fish. The only one lost was on a damaged piece of trim on the port side of the swim platform. Needless to say the rest of the fish came in on the starboard side. The best part of the weekend was winning the Bull Island calcutta and bragging rights in Poquoson for the next 12 months. It is a great low cost tournament with some fine hosts in the Eastern Shore Marlin Club. We will drive the 90 miles tonight for the awards ceremony and give a full posting tomorrow as the results aren't final and we should have gotten some additional awards other than the 1st Bill Fish Released. Robert and David (Bay Country) caught the Marlin and Jim, Jerry & Myself caught the Tuna. I tried to get the rod but was pushed down on my 59th B'Day. The young studs wanted the action and kept giving us old guys elbows in the stomach and I was relegated to my "Captain Chores's". Ie. Finding the fish :-)[grin][excited]

7/26; The awards Banquet was great and the overall results are:

American Dream; 1st Place w/2 Billfish
Salty Pub; 2nd Place w/2 Billfish
    Cap; 3rd Place w/2 Billfish

Salty Pub also won the 1st Billfish award.
American Dream won Best Boat on Friday AND the Mate's Calcutta.

As you can see the overall results were close and the top three places were awarded by the date and time of their catch.

Nice job on the whites, those speaders really seem to make them come for a look.
