    Default Wildwood Overnighter Report

Our annual overnighter out of NJ. What a trip. We took a new boat out this year - the "Little Debbie" out of Wildwood, NJ. Capt John and the mate Spencer were awesome.

Leaving around 9:30 am Friday, we headed out (I think) to somewhere around the 100 line in the Wilmington and started the troll. It was a bit of an interesting ride out - seas were probably in the 4'-5' range at times. The wind chop was the ******ty part though.

Anyhow, we got out the trolling spread and about 45 minutes in we had a white marlin attacking the starboard flat line. It backed off and dropped back to the starboard rigger and the mate freespooled the bait right to the marlin and we hooked up. The guy who's turn was up had never been offshore. It was incredible that this guy's fish was a white - how bout it! It was the first marlin 3 of us had seen as well.

A few hours later we got into a school of longfin - 4 lines went off and we managed to come tight on 3 and got 2 into the boat. None of us had ever seen a longfin, so this was yet another first on this incredible trip. A little while later we got completely covered up by YFT's and went 3 for 6. This was, for me, the most insane thing I've ever been part of as far as fishing goes. Lines peeling off everywhere, tuna flying out of the water. We even had multiple tunas attacking the teasers! We needed more fisherman!!!! [excited]

Where the seas picked up into the night, the fishing did not. We pretty much got our asses handed to us overnight by some pretty significant swell. My buddy hauled in a very nice Blue Shark that was released, and in the middle of the night the Cap'n released a small Mako. Here are some pics:

PS. The Princeton is the greatest bar on the face of the planet. Period.

nice post Buck. Sounds like a fun trip. I have always wanted to do one of those overnighters.

I am heading for Hatteras on Saturday for a week of R&R....my biggest decisions in life will be where to fish [grin].....If only the rest of my life could be that easy.

I'll be venturing into the wild blue yonder myself on my boat, so wish me luck[excited]

I use those same colored spreader bars and have done well with them on tuna.I started using them 12 years ago when other capts.thought they were a joke in OC.
