Chinco 9/23 Late Report

Tough start and a tough day. First the jack on the trailer boke. Fixed one shear pin then the other sheared off when it was half way on the ball. errrr. A comercial guy shows up and tells us he just got back in and it was rough but he was going to try and go back out.. We thought it might be because the wind was blowing that night and into the morning. Finally decide to at least check the inlet. Launch the boat and the batteries won't kick the motor cause I had forgot to remove the plugs and the bilges had run them down a bit. Get a jump and finally get on the way. Going to the inlet we the commercial boat comming back along with a 24' CC they indicate it too rough. The inlet was mostly white but we took the inside cut and made it 2 miles from the beach when we ran over a 6' shoal and just cleared a wave as it was ready to break. At 5 miles we decide it's not too rough to turn back. Star to chunk at 10: AM. Had 1 experienced and 1 Greenhorn. Mr. Greenhorn decides he'll through some chum in 15 minuites after we start chunking. His singing was terrible. I really felt sorry for him so after 2 hours with 1 fat albert 1 run off and one nice fish that broke the 40 lb fluro leader we decide to give the sick boy a break and troll. Came across a weed line a caught a few dolphin trolling it. They wern't big enough to make me punish the sick one by stopping to bail. We still couldn't get his head out of his hands. Saw fixit troll by onb his way east. He calls us 10 minuites later and he's hooked up with a blue one. We decide to go to the Washington which didn't get us anything. Troll back in a pick up a couple more dolphin with the sick guy singing over the side of the boat every now and then. We ended up with 10 Dolphin. Started to lay down later in the afternoon and the ride back was bad for me or Roger but the greenhorn never recovered.

When I got him back to the house he was out. Didn't see him again till 7:30 AM the next day. He was one hungry SOB. Went to breakfest and he tried to eat mine too. I don't think he's goiung to asked to go again anytime soon.

he-he-he... we've all seen newbies like this... Makes the day tough to enjoy with Ralph on board. Wish I could have gone. At least you got out & had some pullage....

Man you gotta feel for the guy and at least he hung on to let you guys put some meat n the box. I sure hope those weeds hang around for us. I was told I can't fish this week by the boss [sad].
