    Default Oregon Inlet Offshore Fishing

I have an invite to got to Nags Head Mid October and thinking of bringing the boat down.

I normally fish out of Ocean City MD - Poormans, Baltimore and HotDog.

What is the strategy for trolling out of Oregon Inlet? Tuna, Marlin, Wahoo. I'm looking at the contour map and thinking just go to the 100 ftm line and troll north and check the temp charts for breaks? Spreader bars, Green Machines, and Ballyhoos.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks

Tuna at the point. It's on any map you get of the area. If the water is still too warm. Go due east to the 650, 35- 40 fthms and work their. Wahoos and tunas.

You got it just about right. I would go with more meat then you do up north and I wouldn't go all the way to the 100 fathom There are plenty of tuna in 30 fathoms. I would follow the charter boats out if it's you first time. Good Luck.

We fished the area on Tuesday. It was a bit rough but we made it to the point in a 23' walk around. The grass was awful so we picked up and followed the fleet north to the 650 line. Picked up a few yfts on the green machine/bird combo fished wwb. Look for any floating structure for bailer dolphin. We located a 2x4 plat about 15 miles offshore and bailed a dozen on silver spoons and squid.
Good luck, but watch the weather. I'm currently looking at 35mph winds and 7-9 foot seas. Guess we'll be fishing the sound.
