Good job. I can not wait for the moon phase to change. Everyone down there is blaming the slow bite on it. We sure marked a H#ll of a lot of fish and bait on Saturday.
Buddy'd up with SwanCaller today at the 700-760 line area. Water temp 70-65. Crew was Dave, Jim, Tom and myself. Great crew. Everybody did everything. Caught 1 YF early then the bite slowed. Dropped in a planer with a 35' leader and seawitch thanks for the tip, Mike (SwanCaller). 5 of the next 6 tunas were on the planer. We picked up 2 fish over the same spot after lunch so we called in Swan Caller and he and several charters responded. I think Mike was able to pick up a tuna and a wahoo near our numbers. Flat seas going out and only a little choppy coming in. A really great day! Looking forward to a nap!

Pretty work Bill & Crew... Glad you manufactured some deep pullage..
I'm back in town and will be watching for a window of opportunity.
BTW: Did you try switching the props to the 3 blades??
Lucian,
Thanks for the congrats. We had a bunch of fun. Yes, I used the 3-blade Sunday. To be honest, I did not see much change in speed vs rpm, at cruise anyway...4500rpms 32-34mph depending on load and sea conditions. It did appear, however, that avg mpg for the trip with the 3-blade yesterday was LESS than with the lower pitch 4-blades I used last weekend, and yesterday there were much better sea conditions. I'll run the numbers today. There may or may not have been less prop wash with the 4-blade but I can't say it hurt our catch. In 2 trips with different props we did well both times. I think being where the fish are helps. Really good marks yesterday.

Nice going, We were out there as well on my boat with the rest of the armada, and I must say I was impressed with the sharing of info, we had to call it at 1230 due to fuel issues, we had a planer down but never could keep it in the 70 degree area for more than a few minutes, never heard of anything being caught on top, everything on a planer, but god what an absolutely picture perfect day, congrates to the ones who managed a bite cause it was slow.
Thanks Bill enjoyed fishing with ya all day. We ended with 3 tuna and a wahoo. One citation wahoo and tuna on a the same trip! I guess it was a quality not quanity day. On the way down I saw that big moon and my heart sunk. I knew the green sticks would kill them all night long!! Thanks for calling us in to catch the cititation wahoo[grin]. think i am going to fish the 400 line next time.
Anyone fishing at night?
Great job!! Did anyone give chunking a real 2 flat effort? May be time for an overnight.
Bill.
I saw charters pulled up that did not appear to be fighting fish. They could have been chunking. I agree. It's chunking time.
