Okay, I'm cheap, no way around it. Wife and kids take all my money and I can't even buy a new Snoopy rod. Can't afford 1 of those high-society pay SST services so I had to come up w/one myself. This is just a start, who knows where it will end.

What I've got thus far is a java based app that allow the user to load in an SST shot (I'm using the Rutgers freebee's of course). Once you establish a couple "alignment" lat/lon's, the app takes over and allows the user to create lat/lon points by clicking on the shot. As you mouse around the image the current lat/lon is displayed at the mouse point.

This is only a couple days in so don't expect much. But I was tired of guessing at the lat/lon's on those Rutgers shots. I've got more ideas to implement:
    > trending
    > user defined points (you give me the lat/lon and I'll plot it)
    > distance calculations
    > temp at cursor
    > temp at user point
    > open to suggestions

Here's a reduced image shot of what you'll see w/a couple user points where I clicked on the SST shot.

If you want a beta version shoot me your email address. To run it will require the java runtime on your local machine which comes on just about all boxes nowadays.

I like it but Terp, you can do the same with sstcharts.com...although I think Rutgers pics are a little better to be honest.

I like it...definitely a nice tool set when preparing for a trip.

Terp...looks cool. Is the Java tool you are using to import the image something that you created?

Can this image be aligned and then overlayed to a smaller scaled chart or are you limited to the same scale as the image on Rutgers?

    Very interesting!
