I'm going up to a 28 Parker. It comes w/ twin F250TXR Yams. I am impressed w/ the F225, which is on my current boat, and twin 225's will push the bigger boat. I'm not adverse to additional power, but don't want anything going wrong 60 miles out. Does anyone have experience w/ the 250's ? I have heard stories of powerhead problems on bigger Yams, and don't know if the F250 has a bad track record. I appreciate your input before I start printing the money.--IJ
Wayne Morgan has a F250 on his Parker, new this year. Perhaps he can add some personal experience. I have the F225 on my Parker and have been pleased with the performance. If I had my choice now I would likely go with the 250. Where are you looking at Parkers?
John
The F250 is a great engine. From everything that I have heard and seen, you won't be disappointed for a minute. It's basically the 225 with some modifications to provide more torque and hp. I've heard nothing but good things about this engine.
The big block problems for Yami were with the HPDI's not the 4 strokes. Good luck.
So far no problems seem to be surfacing on the F250s. Right now Yamaha is also offering the YES extended warranty for FREE, that is 3 extra years of coverage on new engines. A friend has F250s with about 300 hours and no problems and I have not heard of any issues on www.thehulltruth.com which is a good resource for hearing of potential problems.
I say go for it........and I hope no problems develop because I just got twin F250s myself.
Thanks for the input, guys. This will be my last boat ( I've said THAT five time before!) and I want to make sure I do it right, last time.
Salty- I am dealing with Tri-State, and they are TopShelf. I bought my 2320 from them, and can't say enough good things. They are PROFESSIONALS.
