I think those are just proposed limits. You know how often they change. The 3 sounds good. 47-73 inches doesn't. Lucky to catch 1 in that class trolling. Might catch a few in that class chunking. I'd like to see them lower the size limit. Perhaps 2 in the lower range and 1 in the 47-73 class. It would help the charter fleet a little. They are trying to protect the species but Rec fisherman are not the problem.
Could be good, could be bad. Depends on what class of fish show up. Two years ago late summer early fall we couldn't get any thing smaller than 47 chunking the scallopers. Last year all we got where footballs <40. There have been a few nice blue fins brought in down south. My bet is there are more, but most are running them over to get out to the yellowfin. If the lager ones do make a good showing this June off DelMarVa you can bet the regs will change just as things get good.
They are still the Proposed Regs, not Final. Rumors are they will stay as is.
Just keep in mind it's only a few thousand fish for the whole coast, it could be a very quick season.
What are the regulations for Yellowfin Tuna in 2006?
YFT regs haven't changed.
