    Default Cancun, Mexico fishing

Anyone ever fished in Cancun. I am going in three weeks and will have some free time on Saturday. Trying to decide on golf or fishing if it is worth it.

This is a decent time of year to fish down there. The weather is a little more timid than in the winter months, and the bag is a little more mixed. Still plenty of sails, some whites, gaffer dolphins, and of course macks and cudas and such.

There are several local fleets if you are on a budget, if not I recommend hopping on the ferry to Isla Mujeres and checking out Anthony Mendillo on the Keen M and Lilly M. Arch on the Pelican may still be there, but is probably booked up if he is. There may be other American boats still there, although the bulk of the fleet has come home. Marina Hacienda Del Mar in Cancun (Punta Sam/Puerto Juarez actually-15 minutes from the hotel zone)is supposed to be up and runing again since the hurricane damage has been repaired, but I don't know if any boats are there now. On Isla, check out Enriques Limas dock and Puerto Isla Mujeres to find quality boats.
