    Default Cape Henlopen Pier

Recieved a call from my kids who were fishing the pier with Grandmom today. They couldn't find any bloodworms at three tackle stores so they used fish bites. My son said the action was slow, but he noticed a guy catching a lot of fish. He asked him what he was using and he was using nightcrawlers. Kids asked Gradmom for money to purchase nightcrawlers and down the pier they ran to get them.
They called me with their report of 52 fish caught made up of spot & croaker combined, and went through 2 bags of nightcrawlers. My son said he saw a few blues come over the rail and 1 short flounder.

Good idea. I've never tried nightcrawlers in salt water since I was told many years ago that they wouldn't work. I was on that pier last Fri. night trying to catch spot (for flounder bait) on a sabiki rig with Fish Bites and only caught 2 all night. Next time I'll try the old garden worm. Thanks for the tip.
