Good report, man. I hope to make it back down to VA Beach and the Tower soon, maybe next weekend!
Went to Ches Light today for a couple of dives. We dove a barge like object and the tower itself. Visibility was surprisingly good. The deeper dive at the barge was about 15-20' vis and the light was an amazing 30-35' vis.
Some nice Tog at the barge. My buddy shot a fish that pulled off. He is not from around here but said it was a grouper. I shot a monster tog and had a money shot but the tip came off. Damn! Thought I had enough lock tight on there.
At the light there was a large school (20-30) of monster Barracuda. For a second there I thought I was diving the oil rigs in the gulf. That was a nice surprise. Vis was especially good. There were spades and some smaller Togs also.
Thats it. Great day diving overall!

Sweet report-sucks the tip came off.I use Loctite on the threads and tighten with a vice(use wood ) on the shaft and channel locks on the tip.Really seems to hold no matter how much they spin. Skip
any size on the speds? Went aouple weeks ago, great vis, had no problem seeing the bottom. Small spades, all were 30ft + depth until the late afternoon. Then they started finning on top. Debating on another trip.[smile]
Thank for the report. It seems like the viz. this year has been great even down the OBX with fish showing up in great numbers and size.
Those fixed wings let many lg. fish go every time, try a rotating long winged tween spiner rock point next time and you will never go back to fixed tips again. JBL has a few: www.jblspearguns.com
I wonder what the Vis will be after all this rain. Back to the normal 3-5
If that good.
Unfortunately this was a breakaway tip. I have no idea what happened there.
