Thanks for the report SS.
That's encouraging to us a little North of you.
Trolled the area north of the bar at Smith Point yesterday and we did real well on the 2 pound blues. We also caught 2 Spanish Macheral that were about 30 inches. It was not fast and furious but we would have 4 out of 5 lines go off at once when we went throught a school of blues. It was non stop from 7am until we left around noon. Best color was a red spoon trolled about 5.5 mph.

Thanks for the report; any particular depth better than others? Planers or in lines better or could you tell?
I don't think 30inches is a citation, and we head from a charter captain friend he had a 36' right by us. We didn't use any inlines, only planers. We used #1 and #2 to keep the lines separate. We fished just north of the drop in 20-40ft of water. The fish were sporaticially breaking all along the bar.
They are there it is just a matter of going.

4 lbs is citation in Virginia - I would think 30” would have it but haven’t caught any Spanish in a while.
A 36'' Spanish would easily be a state record. 30'' spanish are all but unheard of in the Bay. A few are caught every year, mainly later in the season in Sept. and Oct.
Yeah, when I read the post, I was like 30' f**k, load up the boat and lets go. that is comparing to the average size 22' I have caught in the past.
Nice job thou.

Wow!! 30 inch Spanish, that is a great catch. Send some just a little further north. [smile]
