Anyone ever blow fuses in their truck when trailoring their boat?

I keep having a problem with a fuse blowing out whenever i trailor my boat at night. When the fuse blows all the lights go out on my truck except for the headlights. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like the running lights on the trailer are grounded. Check the brown wire at your plug. It is probably shorting to ground.

Happened to me a few years ago but I lost all lights at 4 am. Ours was the side marker lights on the trailer rusted and grounded. Took about 2 seconds to get rid of that light with some needle nose and away we went. Another good reason to keep extra fuses.

the other thing about this is that the trailor is brand new. Just got it last month.

Being new doesn't mean it's right but it does make your vehicle wiring suspect. Did you just have the hitch and wiring installed after market? If so that could be where the problem is.
If it's not too much trouble you should just bring it back to where you bought it and let them mess with it....

Does it happen on the way to the water or after you've dunked it at the ramp? Might be a connection shorting out after it gets wet. If they used those little metal clips to hold the wire in place here and there look at the wire underneath them because they can be sharp and cut into the insulation.

Now that I have thought about it, I have had my fuse blown in my truck while trailering my boat.
It was a different decade, different truck, different boat and trailer and a different wife, but the same fuse.

How quick time flies.

ok a few more details. The fuse does blow out after its been dunked in the drink. Also the trailor wiring harness was put on by me but it was a few years ago to power a led light bar that is still on my truck and still works great.
