    Default What A Week

Wife, daughter and I left for the Outer Banks on the 26th to just relax and me to do a little fishing. My father pulled the boat down and blew two tires on the way. Not a good way to start the week away. We went offshore one day but didnt make it very far due to the heavy southwest wind blowing up some large swells so we decided to head back towards shore and maybe find some gras lines floating. When we turned back east we couldnt do much more than about 10 knots so we decided to troll back at about 7 knots. Not long after we had lines in the water we get hooked on a small tuna. Nothing large but at least I knew I could rig a ballyhoo right. Get the one fish in the boat and set two lines back out. Get a second hit and my nephew reels in a little barracuda. We had some more knock downs and many stolen baits but couldnt get anything else to come tight. All in all it wasn't that bad. A little rough but at least we caught something going offshore for the first time. Then Thursday night we rode out the little bit of wind and rain we got down there but nothing worth talking about. On friday my friend that lives down the road called to say things were getting pretty bad up here and that the water was high and the wind was heavy. When I came home on Saturday i found my truck with a tree across it. So now i not only need a new prop for the boat but also a new truck to put the boat and the wives jetski in the water. Finally got power back late last night and internet this afternoon. Maybe things are going to start getting back to normal now. But hey, at least i got to do some fishing before things got bad [grin]
Once i get some pictures on the computer from the fishing I will post them.

Tough break on the truck. There was severe damage on the Potomac side of the Northern Neck and in the Rapp.

    John,
Thats what you get for leaving. Doesn't pay to try and have a little fun. (Just Kidding) Sorry about the truck. Glad no one was hurt. Property and trucks can be replaced. We took a little damage at the cottage in Fleeton. Mostly water which blew under the shingles and threw the Sliding Class window on the Fla. room. Tarp over my boat took a hard whipping but she held up enough to keep the boat protected. Lots of trees broken off halfway up, but none of them hit anything. Spent entire weekend down there in the dark. Current came back 1300 hrs yesterday. Could have been a lot worse. Thankful it wasn't.
