Took a couple of tips from Lily, and tried the chester. We did okay. We got a packed bushel of #1's by 8:30 am and then the wind picked up and the tide slowed down. By 10:00am we had another 1/2 bushel of mixed crabs. We caught at least a bushel of females that we threw back. The best quality crabs were caught in 8'+ of water. The shallower you went the lighter the crabs.

Good Job[grin] The deep water will be the ticket from now til halloween[grin]..

Re rig your traps with 20 ft of line and be prepared to drop them from 12 ft to 16 ft.

The crabs shut off @ 9 am .. The tide turned and went out but real slow.. 1 bushel of # 1 's only for us...[smile]

We did the same... We also had a bushel by 8:30... We were in 8 to 10 feet of water. Once the tide stopped moving it pretty much ended for us. But it was a nice bushel of #1's. It is hard to beat a Chester River crab for flavor and size.
