Triggers are funny. Heard of them being under stuff floating, high in the water column, and drifting. I have caught all of mine on wrecks, or the walls. They have sorta small mouths so 1/0 is about perfect, but have caught alot on 3/0. Sand fleas seem to work best, but have caught them on clam, and green crab. BUT the meat is poisonous!!! So if you catch them e-mail me and I'll tell you where to send them. Seriously they are one of the best fish you'll ever taste. Good luck!

Caught a pair 20 miles out of Barnegat Inlet NJ last month. They were inside a floating kitchen garbage can. They wouldn't come out of the can after any of our offerings so...I did what any red blooded American fisherman would do...I had my crew grab the can out of the water with the triggers in it and before they knew what happened they were in my cooler. I wonder if that's some sort of record? They sure di taste great!

    AMR,
Now that's creative fishing! Will you be adding kitchen garbage to your arsenol of lures? [grin]
