I will be in nagshead this weekend but as far as specific information on fishing hatteras im sorry i cant help ,, i usually fish in nagshead area , and when im in hatteras im usually surf fishing . However if it was me i would be looking for signs of drum and definately looking for some specs [grin]
I have been going down there my whole life and never have i fished Ocrakoke , kinda a shame im sure there are some hot spots .
Sanflea,
What do you use for bait when fishing for Drum? Going down mid October and Thanksgiving week.
charlieboy,
got word that cut mullet on fishfinder rigs with decent size hook is good for larger drum in the surf. I will be giving it a try. Are you bringing a boat or fishing piers and surf?
PF
port fisher,
Fishing the surf and a day trip on the Miss Hatteras. Renting a house in Hatteras in Oct. Never fished the sound (is it worth it)? We might try the Hatteras inlet... usually fish the Buxton point and Oakacroke.
Wife and friends staying on Bodie island, just north of Oregon inlet, in Nov.
Charlie boy ,
i fish a fishfinder rig with a short 6' or less leader , and any sort of cut bait , bunker , mullet , are good ,, alot of times if the wind is really blowing the heads are the best part , but the short leader also helps with that !
if its blowing 20 and pouring down rain its about the best time to fish for drum [grin]
