    Default Wye river -09-27

crabbed the Wye river today, got a late start due to a trailer tire failure, blew out on the Bay bridge just far enough past the toll boths that I could not pull over and change it , had to ride the rim across the bridge! not much left when I got to the other side[grin], finally got tire changed and made it to the wye well after daylight, went out towards the mouth and started crabbing about 8 am, crabed until noon with 3600 ft trotline
9-18ft water , slow but steady, finally managed to fill 3 bu, 2 males and 1 female,,most crabs were found in 12-15 ft water, still some good quality crabs to be had in the wye, the crabbers that got started earlier than me had some better catches than me.crabs are till there..

I'm sure that was not a fun experience! Limping along at 5-10MPH would take a whyle.

Thanks for the report. This time of year I am always curious about how the Wye is doing since I will head over that way when Cox shuts down.

Were most of the crabs 'white'? I noticed quite a few light crabs that had recently shed.

I did lay 1 line in shallower water and found only small crabs there,,moved it to the deep for bigger crabs, as far as whites , probably 1 1/2 bu good #1's & 1/2 bu of whites (my dinner)

Rich, Glad you found them. The feeling of landing decent #1 crabs gives you a lift doesn't it.[smile]
