Saltwater tackle, try Boaters World near Potomac Mills Mall. Off of Prince William Pkwy and SmokeTown Rd.

Fresh water tackle any Walmart or Dicks Sporting Goods, or Sports Authority store. There is a Walmart behind Potomac Mills Mall. There use to be a Sports Authority store in the Mall but I have not been there in awhile and do not know if still in Mall.

There are no good tackle shops in that area due to big box and big sports warehouses. Small tackle shops just cant keep up with that type of high volume, low price pressure. You will also notice that there is no custom tackle.....all packaged stuff for quick sale.

I live in Manassas and always wait and buy my equipment at RW's on the NN. If I have the time I will order online.

    Thanks for the help again.

HEY Petey, I've learned a bunch from you on the PRAC board. Thanks for the generousity!

I think I'll drive up to Baltimore tomorrow and check out the old Bass Pro Shops. I kind of want to see that MD Record catfish in the tank if she's still there...

In addition to the suggestions above, use Google or an alternative to shop the internet. There's a whole new world out there. There is really nothing like a good, old fashioned full service, independent tackle shop like RW's or Queens Creek.

If you fish local try to shop local. both queens creek and RWs are on the net. they open early and close late. they both carry bait and an extensive inventory of tackle. neither one oversells you and they know whats running any particular day. and, you probably pass one of them on the trip into the northern neck.

Good Point, Ginger, I have been shopping at RW's since about 1996 when it was 1/3 of its present size. I have had nothing but great service there, as well as a lot of tips from Rick as to how to set up trolling spreads etc. I have also found they are very competitive in price to other retailers and catalog/on line stores.

I have also heard good recommendations about Petey, who sells custom tackle at in Montross (at Stans near the Dairy Freeze I think) on Saturday mornings. I believe he is on line too. Google fishontackle.
