    Default Piankatank Saturday Morning

Put the boat in the water this morning around 11:00 with intentions of using some cut bunker to see what was biting. When I get to my first location and put the anchor over the damned anchor line just snaps, guess I should have checked that instead of thinking 'it holds the boat still so it's fine'. So no anchoring, lets drift. The only drifting I did was around in circles so plan 'b' wasn't working either. Firgured I would go to a place behind a point to get away from the light breeze that was spinning me round and round. Was marking lots of fish around 4 to 6 feet in 9 feet of water so lets try some of the light tackle trolling the guys on the Maryland board always talk about. First pass I get a 18.5 incher on a 4 inch chartruse grub on a 1/4 ounce jig head. Second pass get a 25 incher on a chartruse shad body on red 1/4 ounce jig head. The 18.5 was caught on a 4 and a half ugly stick, talk about a fun fight. Good way to wrap up a bad start to the morning only took about an hour to get back to the ramp after I left.

We got a little private ramp on the Middlesex side that I normally use.
