Norfolk 9/30 - Decent Day, Bad Fuel!

Headed out of Little Creek at 5am with Glenn (GAW) Steve, Billy (High Caliber) & Becky, and my son Garrett. Put lines in about 3 miles short of the tip and got covered up with Alberts as the lines were going in. Brought 4 in before we could get out of there.

Worked the south wall of the canyon for a while with nothing around the lobster balls, shallow, deep, then had a white crash the bird/green machine WWB. Whooda Thunk? It was a big fish, pulling alot of drag on a 50W w/ 20# drag. Had him on for about 10 minutes, but he threw the hook on a nice jump. I guess heavy rod + bird = lost whitey. Circled back to the spot whitey hit and a nice YFT hit the bird/Gm again, put him in the box, 50#. That was it for the day. Worked the north & south walls til 3 and then started in.

Stbd engine wouldn't come up to speed, no problems with the port. Couldn't find anything wrong with it, scratched head for a bit, then changed fuel filters. Port filters clean as a whistle (changed them on both eng before this trip), stbd filter was full of black crap. Clean filters did the trick, now I have to figure out hows I got bad fuel in one tank and not the other. Never had a hint of dirty fuel in either tank before.

Smooth ride in after that, beautiful sunset at the nouth of the bay and a nice day on the water with some good friends.

Glad you made it back okay Bill. And you're right it is nice to know you have friends out there with you. Nice way to save the day and put some meat in the box.

Sorry to hear about the fuel, but glac to you had some shots at fish.
