It is very important to contact all of the Maryland Senators and tell them of your support for Senate Bill 379 "Atlantic Coastal Bays- Dredging for Oysters and Clams - Prohibition" WITH NO AMENDMENTS! You can e-mail them at the addresses below or call Legislative Services and ask for each Senator by name at
410-946-5400 or 301-970-5400. This must be done over the weekend if we have any hopes of this bill passing. Please try to contact as many Senators as possible.

Good try Crowbait but our "friend" from teh Eastern Shore, Senator Stolfus, had the deck stacked against us and the bill was killed in the senate. Rich has a full post on the main board with all the grizzly details about the whole thing. Thanks to your guy from Southern MD, Roy Dyson, for getting it as far as it did. Sad thing was the companion bill flew through the house for the second year in a row but I'm sure it will also be killed in the Senate. Always next year!

Yup...

By the way, I didn't write the text of this. It was emailed to the MSSA board of directors and filtered down to me. I figured it might be useful to everyone.

" SB379 banning hydraulic dreggers in O.C.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After listening to the argument for killing the bill by Senator Stolzfus on the floor of the Senate Chamber I could not believe how vigorously Stolzfus wanted to kill this bill. He pulled out all the stops from a women crying calling him saying that she was going to lose her house or putting hard working waterman out of a job because of this bill. Our good friend from Southern Md., Senator Roy Dyson spoke in favor of the bill, but to no avail. Stolzfus asked several senators to pledge their vote to him well before the hearing on Monday. The final vote was 26 to 20 to kill the bill.
Capt Rich"

Really! We should keep our guys in the loop first, don't ya think?
