Tom Kirkman's book would be a good place for you to start. Call me at 703-491-4516 and we can talk about it.

I agree Dale Clemens' book "Advanced Custom Rod Building" is great and will give you more information than you may want. Also I suggest that you subscribe to RodMaker Magazine, published by Tom Kirkman (www.rodmakermagazine,com). This will give you info on suppliers, how-to ideas, rod building techniques, and help for beginners. Kirkman has pubished a very good book on rod buildng that I refer to often. As for suppliers I go to the Mud Hole Custom Rod Building and Fishing Tackle Supplies (or Custom Tackle Supply ([url]www.customtackle.com) (http://www.mudhole.com). If you are not sure what to order, call them and they will help. Their catalogs have all that you will need.

Where are you located? There is a club called tristate that has classes for beginners in January and the class is 4 saturdays in January and you come out with a nice rod and you learn from some good teachers.

hey rhahn427 i cant figure out how to open bmail

Ric-Go to the top where it says private messages and click on that. That is what they mean by bmail. Good luck with those rods. I have been making my own rods for a while and I find it very relaxing.
