Hi Folks,

I've always been amazed by the hundreds of different flounder rigs I've seen folks use over the years. Post a pic of the rig you like and tell why you prefer that one. I've always liked something like the one below... easy to make and pretty effective, though I haven't really noticed a particular color outperforming another.

Edit: By the way, a rigging message board is a great idea. Thanks!

I dont have a pic of a flounder rig, but the one I would prefer to use is the second one you got in that pic. It has a greenish color and a little bit of pearl. That is the color i use up in New York near staten island. Some people think its wierd that you can catch 26 in. stripers and catfish. What do you think?

Here's my favorite.

Why? Because a bare hook means I am live baiting and looking for the bubbas.

Everyone has thier favorites, so " ....let the battles begin...."

Mine, Bright Red hair, Kahli black hooks!! Yep, I know they can't see it below 5', I know it won't work, I know its only the smell of the meat. What I really "know" is--It works for me and you must tie your own. Never saw one to buy !!

It appears that you are not using any clevises to hold the flasher blades. Perhaps those rigs will work fine however I would fear the flasher blade gradually cutting into the line as it spins weakening the line and possibly losing the big one. Just my 2 cents...

Where do you get the brass grommets that you tie the buck tail on ? I would like to find some of those so I can try making some rigs like that.

Just FYI, the pic I posted isn't of my own rigs. I didn't make those. I just put that picture up there because it was similar to the type of rigs that I use, but that's a good point about the flasher blades.

I just tied some up (See the Chesapeake Board) and discovered that you can use 1/8" diameter pop rivots to make the teasers, they are available at Lowes or Home Depot and availabl in either in SS or aluminum.

Use the pop rivot shaft to hold the rivot in the vise, tie the bucktail, then pop the sleeve of the rivot off the shaft.

Thanks for the great tip Chris. I will be sure to give those ss rivets a try. Chip
