been starting to fish for kings this year, seems slow trolling with baits is the prefered method, but when trolling spoons etc do you slow troll them also, think i haev been pulling them too fast by what i haev been reading

1-2 knts for live bait, the slower the better. For spoons and hoos, 6 knots or so.

you also want to use long leaders on those spoons, some say as long as 40', i make mine 25' and use flourocarbon 60lb test-and #4 planers/or downriggers. i try to troll a little slower than what Darren suggest (just my way bud:)) )

if you are using any kind of bait be it live bait, hoos, strip baits etc use a stinger hook. it doesnt necessarily have to be in the bait either, just judge the action of the bait in the water-

good luck

I would guess that they are using a wind on leader with an albright knot for the braid to floro connection.
