Looking for a good blank for rockfish (20-40lb) thats not gonna break the bank. Most all of my lighter casting rods are Lamiglass but I was thinking of going with something else for my heavier outfits. I also do not want to go any shorter than 6'6" for versatility.
Input?

2. BT 20( trim from tip)
3. CLB 704

American Tackle

Rainshadow
1. SWB 70MH

Calster

2. 660MH

Pac bay X2RT20-B or 30 B

Take your pick. I've built Bay trolling rods on all of them. I built a set of the X2RT30B during the winter and ended up keeping them for myself.

Length wise, I stick with 6' trolling rods. IMHO they fight a fish better than the 6'6"

Thanks for the info. Might try the Rainshadow blank.

Thanks for the info. Might try the Rainshadow blank.

As with most RS blanks the SWB is a fast action blank. When making a trolling rod with it be advised to trim according.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have any updates to trolling blanks? Also, where these blanks can be found. I checked Mudhole and could only locate a few of the blanks listed above.

If you live in the chesapeake area, call Bill at Shore Tackle. WE have the Rainshadow SWB's on the shelf.
