View Full Version : Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area and the great migration north of waterfowl

This past Wednesday I spent the day at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in central PA, viewing the great migration north of snow geese and swans. What a sight it was to see. Tens of thousands of snow geese and swans just literally everywhere you looked. The first thing you noticed was the sea of white on the 400 acre man made lake, next was the noise. My first impression, it doesn’t get any better, but I was wrong. One of the rangers told me the day before they estimated the area held over one hundred thousand birds. With strong winds coming out of the south I was told a good portion of the birds took advantage and headed north. Here are a few images I was able to capture out of the many hundreds I took.

Wayne, very nice but I think you have their migration directions backwards. Snow's winter in the USA and summer in the Tundra.

Jim, the date on the original post was March when I took the photos.
