What is the difference between the following two units? I haven't purchased a new one for years, so I'm not really sure what all the new gadgets are that are available now. I realize the base maps are different, but what is the difference other than that?

The price is pretty comparable so I'm looking to see what the difference would be. It is for a Carolina Skiff that I fish, crab, and duck hunt out of.

One of the main differance is the GEN2 is a much quicker processor which makes the unit run faster. You can add structur scan and with charts you can run Navionics Platinum products. if you are still looking at the elite 5 move up to the elite 7 bigger screen and not that much more in dollars.

Thanks. I noticed the big difference in screen size in the 7 vs. the 5 and would definitely be going with the 7 in whichever unit I choose.
