Fishing Fly Fishing How to Fishing and Fishing Reports at Tidal Fish - Virginia Fishing Report June 4, 2015
  • Virginia Fishing Report June 4, 2015

Virginia fishing is just about wide open inshore and offshore.

Capt. Ken said that the yellowfin and bigeye tuna have shown in the Norfolk Canyon area. Deep-dropping remains very good for blueline and golden tilefish. Sea bass can be found mixed in with the bluelines or on the ocean wrecks.

Spadefish have shown at the Chesapeake Light Tower and at some of the other inshore structures. Some really large sheepshead have been caught at the
CBBT and by boats targeting black drum. Drum fishing is still very, very good, especially for red drum.

Cobia have taken off with a bang and are generating the most angler excitement. They are being caught from the fishing piers and by anglers targeting drum or flounder. Sight-casters are doing well as are anglers anchoring up on a chum slick. Summer is here!

Pictured this week is Tidal Fisher Sllam! and his crew with some nice cobia. He has a full fishing report with more details on red drum and a ton of good pictures.

Flounder fishing has not been great with the exception of the Eastern Shore where some nice catches are being made. Some are being caught at the CBBT, on Hampton Bar, in the Back and York Rivers, along Grandview and Buckroe, at Back River Reef and around 36A.

Some puppy drum, striped bass and bluefish are being caught up on the flats while speckled trout have been mostly absent. A very few are being caught inside Back River and in the Mobjack Bay area. Croaker are everywhere and there are some spot being caught.

There some hot fishing reports coming in on the Tidal Fish message boards:

Tat Tuna reported that he and his crew fished off the oceanfront with his boy Noah k. and buddy from Farmville VA Chris C. . Chris had never caught a cobia and his first was 85lbs Caught 4... Biggest was 85lbs. They also reported releasing a few red drum. Check the full fishing report with pictures:

Yanfan reported that he chunked the outgoing tide at the MMBT with fresh bunker Saturday, 5/30 and had four nice runs. Lost each one including one that felt real good. Frustrating day to say the least. Get the rest of the fishing report details.
