Virginia Fishing Reports

Although occasional chatter suggests the coastal striped bass fishery is ending, someone forgot to tell the fish. Reports of limits of nice rockfish ranging from 20 to 40-pounds are pouring in from boats trolling from Cape Charles, Virginia down to Corolla, North Carolina. Beehives of birds are popping up everywhere, and vast bait balls are commonplace. With the mild weather lately, the water temps are still hovering in the low forties. These fish are not planning on going anywhere, except back up into the rivers to spawn in a few weeks. Pods of smaller school-sized fish are also available around the HRBT, the CBBT, the Lesner Bridge, and scattered about the lower bay for catch and release extravaganzas. So, if striped bass is your desire, you still have time.
