    Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone had a great time out on the water over the holiday and had some fun. The fish might be a little mixed up with that doozy of a storm we had pass through the region, maybe even making them a little more hungry then before.

Speaking on being hungry, some news on the Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab population just came out that I found pretty ...

Flounder, Cobia, Red Drum, Black Drum — they are all happening in Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay and inshore waters.

In its tenth year, the tournament encourages anglers of all skills to get out on the Chesapeake and enjoy all the great sport fishing opportunities the Bay and its tributaries offer. Even if you don’t catch the real Diamond Jim and get an impostor, you can still win some great prizes.

The Diamond Jim component of the 2014 Maryland Fishing Challenge kicked off earlier this month when Department of Natural Resources biologists and members of the Maryland Youth Fishing Club caught, tagged and released the first round of striped bass ...

“Don’t fish too deep” is the advice from Lenny Rudow at boats.com, who said spot are beginning to show in relatively shallow depths of 12 to 16 feet. As more spot move into the area, “livelining will hit its stride any day.”

“Chumming has been the way to go for rockfish” according to Angler’s Fishing Center. A nice grade of rock, 25 to 34 inches, has been caught while chumming off Hacketts in about 30 feet of water. Trollers pulling small tandems have caught rock near buoy 86.
