Bonehead, I just picked up 4 new Penn Squall 50 LW. What pound test mono would you use for backing or how would you string them up right for trolling?

If the catfish trip opening is still available I'd be willing to go.

Some guys are still catching in shallow like 4 ft or so. Not me, I"m in 10-15 ft. Catching huge big black mudders. Chester River way back up in the creeks. This time of year not as many crabbers and you can lay your line across a mouth of a creek and slam some nice crabs moving out of the shallow creeks to the deeper part of the Chester as the H2O is dropping fast.

    Good Luck

Went out this morning at 5am, fished the mouth of the Magothy river, caught about 60 fish total (white perch, Big spot, rockfish, 1 small blue) tried live lining some spot for the rock or blues but didn't have any luck with them, my son and father had a great time thats all that counts, thanks for the advice, will give hackett's bar a shot next week.

Hi Gary you seemed to be the most experienced of the bunch, I've been a freshwater fisherman most of my life and have just begun the tidal fishing so I'm a bit wet behind the ears lol, looking to find some busy rockfishing areas to take my son, I'm not looking for keepers (they're ok if we land em) but just looking for catching fish after fish, something to keep the boy entertained, thanks for any advice, FYI: I'll be coming out of the magothy river if you know anything close to there.

Hi Gary, Thanks for the offer to try peeler crabs, are you going fishing next Friday? Got the day off, so that guy who was shad fishing will go. Was thinking of stopping by the asain grocery to see if they have fresh herring. Were going to try surf rods at spsp. Not sure were the best place to cast out and set up would be, any tips? Maybe spsp is not the best place... If you were going to fish from shore where would you go? No since barbs are allowed do you think circle hooks and let em run, or high low rigs and set the hook quickly?

Maybe I will see you ay Fletchers on Saturday. Going to take a guy who has never fished much, but I think he will enjoy it. Suppose to rain all day Friday from what I hear so they may not rent the boats. But can still throw from the banks if that's the case. Hey are you hitting the bay on opening day of trophy season? I will be at Sandy point on the 23rd with surf rods in hand. Never landed one on a surf rod before but looking forward to trying, unless you know of a better place to go than sandy point?

hey Crabby, I called Fletchers Boathouse this morning and they told me that some are starting to catch shad and rocks. I cannot make it this weekend but will try to hit it next weekend in case you want to go. He also told me some herring are in but not much. I bet by next weekend they should all be in pretty good. Would love to catch some herring and put on the bottom for some of those hungry, large blue cats!!

I think we briefly met last night at the MMSA-Fredrick meeting. I was the gentlemen (and I use that term loosely) with the Cochlear implant on my head. I was sitting at the next table to your left.
I apologize for not formally introducing myself. I have been following the post regarding your son and hope things are going well. I have had my own issues with 3 brain surgeries due to a tumor and as a result have lost of all my hearing.
I hope to see you again shortly and will definitely make it a point to say hello.

    Best Regards
    George
