I've taken a few months off to beat the heat and spend the weekends outdoors. I will get back to work on the skiff in early September!

Flats Skiffs - Not Just for Florida Anymore

I was in Maine about a month ago and was surprised at how may flats skiffs are being used up there. Definitely not the most common boat, but certainly no longer uncommon. They are evidently quite versatile. You're gonna love yours. Nice work!

Been busy around here cleaning up after Irene and repairing my steps to my dock and re-landscaping. I know a lot of people think Irene was nothing, but we really got hammered here (St. Mary's Co.) with a lot of big trees going over. I finally dropped my big boat back in the water this morning. I've been doing some light fairing on the boat, but nothing really major to report. I just need to do some light sanding on the transom and I will be ready to apply the Alexseal 302 super build primer soon.

    Rosco,
Just read thru the thread. You are doing some absolutely gorgeous work on that boat!! Even, better you are doing it with your son. He'll remember this project for the rest of his life, I guarantee it.
Thanks greatly for sharing it with us. I've always wanted to do a build like that and your work is an inspiration!

Still doing quite a bit of fairing on the hull at this point. Just a boring video of me fairing the hull and applying fairing compound, but she's starting to look good under the bright lights. I'm hoping that there's only another a week of this because my arms and shoulders are shot :)
