Maybe it's me but is there a 20" rock in the bay? Fished this morning north of BB. Acres of birds and breaking fish west of LP but all 12 to 16". Found a $hit load more over to the east at mouth of Chester River that were a better class of fish but again not 20". I was on birds and breaking fish till 1pm and left them biting.
Pics
All shorts breaking south of the BB Thurs.
Fish deep, behind them.
the birds are clearly just indicating where there isn't any keep stripers. Or just under them. Typically the bigger stripers and sometimes nice trout are under the breaking blues/rock.
Use a heavier jig to cast beyond the birds and get the lure down deep. Bigger fish are smart and conserve energy; they wait for the little guys to tear up the bait and wait below for the easy pickings.
Did that...casted past them.. Casted to the sides of them.. Trolled around them.. No keepers just dinks.. This is the second time I've been out in two weeks and the Dink's could have chewed out the bottom of the boat... Just heard a similar report from south of the BB

Hope it picks up by Thursday morning and not waste my fuel...but it will beat working.
My buddy Reeltor and I had top water blow ups almost all day. Keeper to short ratio wasnt great but we had fish to over 23" today.
Congrats IFish... Petty work
