Dan Mallonee of Bay Country Crabbing Supply & Tackle and Travis Long of Teacher’s Pet Fishing will be the Guest Speakers at the Annapolis MSSA Chapter Meeting on Wednesday June 21st. Dan will discuss the various means of crabbing to include trotlines, pots, collapsible traps, and hand lines, and the preferred baits of razor clams and chicken necks. There are DNR regulations that go along with each method of crabbing, Dan will cover these as well.
Dan Mallonee, the owner of Bay Country Crabbing Supply, is a 3rd generation waterman who as a small boy going out with his father and grandfather has been on the water for over 25 years. As the owner of Bay Country Crabbing, Dan has been crabbing for over 20 years. He has worked with experienced boat captains and has run his own trotlines and crab pots.
Travis Long of Teacher’s Pet Fishing is a recreational fisherman who operates a 21 foot Key West center console out of Chesapeake Beach. Travis will discuss light tackle fishing techniques and will cover rods, reels, line, jig heads, what color jigging baits work best and what to look for out on the water.
Dan Mallonee and Bay Country Crabbing Supply (BCCS) will also bring a full line of crabbing tackle available for purchase including trotlines and the now required end buoys, shock cord Snoods, commercial pots, stackable pots, steamer pots, bushel baskets, nets, and a full line of accessories. MSSA Annapolis Chapter meetings are open to the public. Spouses and children are welcome to attend. There will be drawings for door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. When you arrive, don’t forget to get your free door prize ticket and buy for $5 each a 50/50 ticket. Food and drinks are available at very reasonable prices at the American Legion Post. So arrive early and have dinner. Meetings are held at the American Legion Post 7, 1905 Crownsville Rd, Crownsville, MD. The meeting starts at 7p.m.
