outrigger pulleys...

I am putting my outrigger poles on the boat this weekend. The only question I have is; do I need a pulley at the top eye of my poles? I got to thinking that with a bungee cord and tension, will I be able to move the line in and out of the pole? Will it pull my extendable poles together or do you all think it will slide through the top eyelet without a problem? Thank you

It won't collapse your telescoping poles, for sure. I have little Ronstan pulleys on the tips of mine. I zip-tied them to the eyelets. Change the zip-ties every Spring.
