It's basically a few weeks between thanksgiving and the end of the year.
Just a note...check out the MD Chespeake Fishing Forum...there striper fishing is all but gone as well. They too recognize the need to urgent conservation regulations/moratoriums/comm regs to be enacted. However, trying to get MD and VA to work together on this matter is probably not going to happen. If either one acts on their own the results will not be effective.

Question should be asked: If ..."the number of striped bass harvested recreationally by Virginia fisheries has declined markedly since 2010" - why did it take 9 years to make a management decision?? I can understand a period of 3 to 4 years to detect a pattern - but 9?

Default Finfish Management Advisory Council - Meeting April 22

Just noticed that the Finfish Management Advisory Council (FMAC) will have a meeting on April 22 (one day earlier than the date of the VMRC meeting) to discuss management of striped bass. I got a notice about the April 23 meeting, but not about the April 22 meeting of FMAC.
Below is a link to the FMAC meeting:

    http://mrc.virginia.gov/FMAC/2019/FM...9-04-22-Agenda

It should be interesting to attend the FMAC meeting to hear their discussions and recommendations on the day before VMRC makes a decision on the Trophy season. Anyone planning to attend the FMAC meeting at 6 PM on the 22nd?

    Tom

Its already decided, they have pulled their spring trophy permit from their website 5 days ago. The meeting is just to make them look good for the public I guess.

881 fish taken last year by recs in the VA trophy season, 861 the year before.
