On Halloween day, October 31, Erkmen, Kaan and Erdac chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team for a private deep sea charter boat sport fishing trip in Fort Lauderdale, FL aboard the Happy Day Today. As they boarded the boat, they were greeted by Captain Zsak and mate, Dave, from the Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat Team.

We started the charter trolling the reef using two deep planner lines and four surface lines. Bonita strips have been working the best, so we used them with multi-colored sea witches. We also used sea witches on the surface lines, as well as lures with Bonita strips. I started trolling the reef in 100 feet of water on the drop off north of Fort Lauderdale. We trolled from shallow to deep and around sunken ship wrecks. Our first bite was on the deep planner line - the rod popped up and started to bounce with each bite. When the fish was on, the drag pulled out and we started fighting the fish, which turned out to be a Kingfish.

We went back to trolling and soon after we had another bite over the similar area. This one turned out to be a Bonita. After we got the Bonita in the fish box, we went back to trolling and again the planner line popped up, the line started going out, and we had another fish on. The first mate wired in the leader and gaffed another Kingfish.

I next decided to try bottom fishing so I went out to deeper waters and started fishing in 300 feet of water. We put two kites up in the air with two live baits on one kite and a dead Bonita cut in half with another live bait on the other kite. We also fished a dead Bonita on the bottom which went down 300 ft., hoping to catch a Shark. After we were set up, the live baits were making commotion on the surface of the water and the dead baits were sending out a chum slick. We carefully watched the live baits and the other rods making sure everything was as it should be. All of a sudden, the deep Shark rod bent over, and we had a huge bite. I put the boat in gear and went ahead to further set the hooks. Line started ripping off the reel, and we had a big Shark on. Erkmen started fighting the Shark, and they battled for over a half hour. This fish gave us some big runs and took out a lot of drag. When the Shark came up, the first mate grabbed the leader and wired up the Shark. The Shark turned out to be an 8 foot+ Golden Hammerhead. We got this awesome Hammerhead up along the side of the boat, successfully got the hooks out of his mouth, snapped a few photos and released the Shark.

After a great day on the water, it was time to head back to the dock. The happy anglers retired into the a/c salon watching the plasma TV and enjoying the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
